Clearly identify and separate any items you will be transporting yourself. Designate a seperate area in the home for these items so there is no confusion on moving day.

Do a walk through of all areas in the home. Double check that you have not overlooked any items in the house.

Defrost and clean your fridge and freezer and clean your stove, at least 1 day ahead of move to allow them to air out. You don't want to leave these heavy cleaning chores to the last minute. They are time consuming and you will be busy enough. Don't forget to drain any water hoses and waterbeds now too.

Time to make contact your mover and verify all the arrangements. Inform themof your new phone number if necessary. It's a good idea to give them your cell number so that you can be contscted during the move. Make any necessary inquires with movers about protecting your goods, and ensure you have 2 copies of your moving bill of lading in your moving file.

Keep all receipts for moving expenses in your moving file for tax deductions.

• fill any prescription you may need over the next few weeks
• arrange any childcare required for moving day
• prepare a box which will be loaded last and unpacked first.
  • Include cleaning supplies, disposable plates and cups, light tools, snacks, bathroom items and trash bags, medications, and first aide kit.
