How To Pack Clothing
Clothing — Pack clothing in clean boxes or suitcases. Wardrobe boxes are available from your moving supplier for hanging clothes.
If you are making a direct move from residence to residence, line the top of each drawer with a few sheets of packing paper.
If items are being stored for some time, pack content of dressers in clean lined boxes.
- Line the inside of the box with paper
- Begin with the bottom drawer and work your way up
- Stack the clothing in the box
- Before moving to the next drawer, place a layer of protective paper over the clothes
- Any breakable items in the drawers should be wrapped seperately before placing in the box
- Fill the box to capacity
- Do not fill with clothing from other rooms.
- Fold paper over the top and tape the box
Using Wardrobe Boxes to pack the content of your closets.
- Line the bottom of the box with paper
- Fasten buttons on shirts and coats to ensure they stay on hangers
- Keep pushing clothing together to maximize space
- Ensure clothing is hanging straight and not bunching
- You can push clothing towards the bottom of the box and pull up slowly to ensure they are straight
- Place packing tape across the bar to keep hangers in tight
- Close and tape the box
